Someone asks me about partner codes every couple of weeks. Same question every time: do they give you free trades or discounted spreads?
No. AvaTrade has no commission on forex trades. You pay the spread. That's your trading cost. A partner code doesn't change that.
Partner code 128979 gets you access to the deposit bonus. Bonus money added to your account based on deposit size. Nothing more complicated than that.
Bonus amounts?
A $1,000 deposit gets you $200.
$2,000 adds $400.
Deposits between $5,000 and $9,999 get $1,000.
Maximum bonus is $14,000 for deposits above $100,000. Not many traders reach that level.
UK traders funding in pounds start at £160 on £800. Top tier reaches £11,200.
You can open an account with $100. Minimum for any bonus is $1,000.
Where to enter the code
When you're signing up. Once you've filled in your phone number, there's a small link saying "Have avatrade partner code 128979 a Partner Code?". Click it. A field drops down. Type **128979**.
Most people miss it because it doesn't look like a proper form field until you click.
If the system rejects it, don't panic. Complete your registration. Message your account manager before you deposit. Tell them you want 128979 applied. Standard practice for them.
You can't withdraw the bonus straight away
There's a volume requirement.
Around 10,000 units per dollar of bonus. A $200 bonus means trading 2,000,000 units before that $200 unlocks. Takes a while if you trade small. Regular trading gets you there sooner than you'd expect.
Your deposit is yours. Access it whenever you need. Bonus funds remain locked until volume is met.
Worth mentioning: while the bonus is locked, it still counts toward your margin. Allows for slightly larger trades. That breathing room helps while you're learning.
